Overview
SemaPen is a UK-based digital health platform designed to support clinically supervised weight-management programmes. The system combines a secure backend API, a cross-platform mobile app, and a comprehensive admin dashboard to manage patients, treatments, subscriptions, and clinical workflows at scale.
The Challenge
SemaPen required a modern replacement for a legacy system that could safely handle sensitive medical data, enforce complex clinical onboarding rules, manage variable medication subscriptions, and integrate with multiple third-party clinical and logistics services — all while remaining fully GDPR-compliant and scalable for long-term growth.
The Solution
A modular, API-first architecture was delivered, using Laravel as the central backend, Flutter for a cross-platform mobile app, and a web-based admin panel for operational and clinical management.
The platform was designed to be secure, extensible, and maintainable, allowing new features and services to be added without disrupting existing users.
